Baskeball Officials Certification Class
Regis Giles, District 7 Basketball Rules Interpreter, in conjunction with the PIAA and WPIAL, is offering an Officials Certification Class that will allow participants to become registered PIAA basketball officials.
The class will be held at Gateway High School on the following dates: May 21st, May 28th, June 4th, June 9th, June 18th, and June 25th from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
Registration is $60 and includes the PIAA registration fee. Mr. William Sinning, District 7 Officials Representative, will administer the test at the conclusion of the class.

High School students who have reached the age of 18 are eligible to participate in the class.
The South Fayette School District has been notified of two cases of MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) have been diagnosed with students who attend the South Fayette School District.

The South Fayette Athletic Department has hired Mark Keener as the Assistant Athletic Director for the 2008-2009 athletic school year. Mr. Keener is currently in his fifth year as an 8th grade math teacher in the district. Mr. Keener also is currently in his fifth year as a Boys Basketball Assistant. Mr. Keener was also a Varsity Baseball Assistant from 2005-2007.
Mark is a graduate of Waynesburg University where he was a four year Varsity Basketball Letterman. He also taught five years at Glen Burnie High School in Maryland where he was a Boys Varsity Basketball Assistant, Varsity Baseball Assistant, and the Assistant Athletic Director.
The South Fayette Athletic Department is proud to announce Olivia Tucci has been hired as the new Varsity Softball Coach. Coach Tucci graduated from Kenyon College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. She also has a Master of Arts in Teaching for Secondary General Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
Coach Tucci currently teaches 8th grade Social Studies in the Middle School at South Fayette. She played four years of collegiate softball and was named as the team captain in her junior and senior years. We look forward to the 2009 Softball season and wish Coach Tucci and the team a successful year.

With the start of the 2008-09 school year, changes have been made to the schedules in the following sports: girl’s basketball and boy’s basketball. Accordingly, girl’s soccer will stay as a fall sport.

We are attempting to skate 4 teams this year; Developmental, Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity. This would included K thru 12.
All individual fundraising monies earned will be credited to your player(s) account. We intend to have fundraising to offset fees such as Car Washes, Candy Sales, Hoagie Sales, Super Bowl Poll and any other ideas you may want. We may need organization fundraisers such as a Raffle (to be determined). All participation is needed.
At this time I am requesting a commitment fee of $100.00 so we may begin the formation of rosters & teams with USA Hockey & the PIHL. Please send commitment fee to; Darell Frank/205 Stuart Circle/McDonald, PA 15057. Checks made out to SOUTH FAYETTE HOCKEY CLUB.

The following information is about the Comprehensive Pre-Participation Physical Evaluations by the (PIAA) Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Inc.:
Starting with the 2008-2009 sports season, physical evaluations will no longer be adequate for a calendar year, but for the school year only. All physicals must be dated after June 1, 2008, by all athletes and cheerleaders for the 2008-2009 season.
Fall sport signups will start the middle of May 2008. More information will be forthcoming.
