The Profile of a Champion 

Characteristic

Definition

Ambition

Desires for high goals. He hates to lose and he cannot stand failure. He puts his goals above his ability.

Coachableness

He takes the advice of the coach and he is eager to learn. He is easy to approach. He also follows rules and regulations.

Aggressive

He is a tiger, the first place belongs to me type. He always asserts himself.

Leadership

He shows the way and sets a good example. When under pressure, he does something about the problem. He is respected by team members. He mixes well. Others follow his example and take his advice.

Take Charge Guy

He will take over when things go wrong…Often a hero.

Hard Worker

One of the first to practice and the last to leave. He does extra work. He never misses practice and follows instructions.

Physical Toughness

He develops toughness by hard work. Is always in great condition. He never misses practice and follows instructions.

Mental Toughness

He never gives in to his feelings and has a never give up attitude. He ignores heat, cold and pain.

Psychological Toughness

He stays on the job to the end. He will do his best against top competition. He has high endurance all season and is reliable.

He never listens and will not accept new ideas. A rebel, griper, who works by himself.

He never talks. High on self-abasement who is always kicking himself.

He goes with the crowd and generally behind them. Never tries to be a team leader.

A Watcher

If there is an accident, he watches or runs away. He is worried about what people think.

Corner Cutter

He ducks practice and cuts out of tough practice. He always has excuses.

Hypochondriac

He is a muscle grabber, who always has an injury. He never works out consistently.

Complainer

Gives up easily and is easily distracted from the job at hand. He will look good when the competition is no of high caliber and will look bad in the big game.

Quitter

He cannot stick to the end. He is easily distracted. He starts many jobs and finishes few. He is very unreliable.
