Section
I: Athletes
- As an athlete, participating
in the strength and conditioning program is not a right, but a privilege.
Any disciplinary actions implemented by your coach shall be carried
over into the weight room (i.e. suspensions, academic performance, etc.)
- Before beginning any training
program you must complete the following:
- Read and sign a UPMC
waiver/liability form which must be signed by both student athlete
and parents.
- Have a Body Map Fitness
Assessment completed
- Bring any health concerns
attention to the staff immediately (strength coach, school nurse,
and athletic trainer)
- Any athlete not having
proper attire (shoes, shirts, shorts, etc.) will not be permitted to
train that day. NO EXCEPTIONS, NO EXCUSES!!!
- All athletes must be ON
TIME for workouts and FOCUSED on the program the strength coach has
prepared for you.
- All workouts provided must
be followed as written by the strength coach. DO NOT TRY TO DO YOUR
OWN THING. It will only slow your athletic development.
- When you start your workout
be sure to do the following steps:
a. Warm up (jump rope, medicine ball warm up, foam roller stretch, dynamic
stretches, etc.)
b. Proceed to the workout on the inside wall of the weight room in regards
to the sport in which you are training
c. Follow the workout in order. DO NOT JUMP AROUND. It is in that order
for a reason.
d. See the strength coach for your daily inner core workout.
e. You must do a proper cool down (stretching) to conclude your workout.
- You must do your part to
help keep the weight room clean, dust, sweep, whatever deemed necessary
by the strength coach.
- No attitudes will be tolerated
in the weight room.
- Weight training is a constant
learning process so feel free to ask questions at any time, however,
the strength coach has final say on all exercises and training techniques.
- Being CONSISTENT in your
training is one of the major keys to becoming a better athlete. Being
INCONSISTENT WILL NOT make you a better athlete.
- Keep your social life out
of the weight room. You are here to learn how to prepare for your athletic
event.
Section
II: Coaches
- Coaches are expected to
communicate between the strength coach and their athletes in regards
to training times (team times, individual times, schedule changes, cancellations)
- Any questions in regards
to the training program should be immediately addressed with the strength
coach.
- Should the strength coach
be absent the head coach or an assistant must immediately contact the
athletic director for permission to use the training facility.
- In absence of the strength
coach and the team is permitted to use the weight room a coach must
be present to supervise their team and make sure the training program
is followed as the strength coach left it.
- Coaches must be able to
follow all emergency procedures.
- It is the coach’s
responsibility to get their players into the weight room, the strength
coach is more than willing to be flexible to meet each individuals athletic
needs. In order for your athletes to get the maximum benefits out of
strength and conditioning it is imperative they get to every scheduled
training session.
