NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Sunday dance rehearsal for the Hot Box Girl Dancers has been changed from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday afternoon.
Attention Criminal Science Club Members a reminder that we will have a guest speaker presentation on Tuesday January 20th starting at 2:15 pm in the High School conference center. Craig Delaney from DASH BioRecovery will be here to talk to the Criminal Science Club about crime scene clean-up. Food and drinks will be provided. Please plan on attending this fun and informative presentation
Attention all girls interested in playing softball this spring: The South Fayette High School Softball Team will be having its Preseason Kick-Off on Friday, January 23 at 3:15 in the High School Conference Room. Any girls interested in softball are welcome to attend the informational meeting followed by snacks and a movie. Any questions, contact Coach Tucci.
Cast members in Guys and Dolls who did not attend Monday’s meeting must see Mrs. Mackey as soon as possible.
OLD ANNOUNCEMENTS
An SAT Prep Course is being offered at Montour High School to prepare for the March 14, 2009, National SAT Exam. Contact and enrollment information is provided on the flyer which is attached to this email. Please note that enrollment is limited to FIVE students only, so be sure to utilize this information as soon as possible!
There will be a Health Careers Club meeting before school in the high school conference center on Wednesday, January 21st. The meeting will begin at 7:00 AM and end at 7:15 AM. Students riding busses should just come upon their arrival to school.
All students who 18 years of age or older and are interested in apprenticeship and journeyman programs in roofing and waterproofing please see Ms. Pedzwater for more information.
The Pittsburgh Italian Scholarship Fund has just arrived in the Guidance Office and has been updated on the Website. All seniors who are of Italian heritage are eligible to apply. The application packets are available in a folder on the table in front of the Guidance Office. Also, please pick up a copy of the latest scholarship listing on the same table.
A reminder for all seniors, some scholarship deadlines are approaching, if you have not reviewed the list of scholarship available please do so as soon as possible. Also, we will be receiving local scholarships within the next few weeks. Please pick up an undated list from the desk in front of the Guidance Office or view them on the South Fayette website under High School Guidance.
A unique scholarship opportunity for all students’ grades 9-12 has arrived in the Guidance Office. This scholarship is offered through the Center for Organ Recovery and Education. Please see Mrs. Pedzwater concerning this information.
Attention all seniors the prom committee will be hosting the third annual prom fashion show and Mr. South Fayette Pageant. We are in need of 20 senior males and 20 senior females to be models. The sign up sheet is located by Mrs. Martin’s room AB219. Fashions will be provided by Babbetts of Bridgeville and American Comodore Tuxedo of Robinson. Remember we can only have 20 male and 20 female models…Sign up now space is limited.
Attention all students who ordered letterman jackets in November, the jackets have arrived and are available for pickup in the athletic office.
South Fayette High School is hosting the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District One Chorus Festival January 14-16 with a performance on Friday, January 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school theatre. The concert is open to the public and $5 general admission tickets are available at the door. The Festival will showcase 176 singers chosen by audition from 61 area schools in Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties. Students chosen to participate from South Fayette are Bailey Caffrey, Shannon DeLuca, Amanda Leonard, Brandon Nyswaner, Shannon Powers, Jordan Savaren, Emily Stoessel and Joey Vollmer. This is the fifth PMEA choral event hosted by Mr. Kevin Maurer at South Fayette. The guest conductor is Dr. Stephen Barr, director of choirs at Slippery Rock University.
South Fayette High School's Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Michael Mackey, is hosting "Jazz Fest" on Saturday, January 17 in the high school theatre at 7 p.m. Featured performers will be the Duquesne University Jazz Band and the jazz ensembles from Upper St. Clair High School, Perry Traditional, Chartiers Valley High School, Shaler High School and South Fayette. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students/senior citizens. Tickets are available at the door or see one of our jazz band members to purchase.
Attention all students interested in engineering, Penn State University Park is hosting an engineering Open House, Saturday, February 28, 2009. Please stop by the Guidance office to pick up a postcard for registration for this event. This wonderful opportunity for you to learn more about the PSU engineering majors, Tour the department and the campus.
Millersville University’s post cards and flyer on their departments of Music has just arrived in the Guidance Office. Please stop by and pick up the information.
A reminder that the University of Maryland at College Park Dance Scholarships application is due by February 17, please stop by the Guidance Office for more information.
A reminder to all faculty and staff to please save your greeting cards from the holidays to be recycled in boxes located in the main HS office. The fronts only of the cards will be sent to St. Jude’s, a nonprofit home for youths, which collects old holiday cards for reuse. Please bring in your holiday cards you plan on discarding and donating them to this worthy cause.
The senior class is holding a second clothing sale. Stop by Mr. Hobbs’ room, AB112, for order forms.
Attention all students looking for part time work, the South Fayette Community Library is looking for students who are interested in some evening and Saturday positions at the library. There are applications available if students are interested in applying for 6-8 hours of work a week. Please see Mrs. Pedzwater in the Guidance Office or Mrs. Billy for more information.
