Irene S. and Harry Louik College Scholarship Fund

Sponsored by the Pittsburgh Foundation

Requirements: High School Senior, resident of Allegheny County, Plans to attend a 2 or 4 year college or university, demonstrate financial need, demonstrate special aptitude, ability or achievement in one of more of the performing arts and/or be committed to furthering appreciation of the performing arts, demonstrate an appreciation of the world outside of the performing arts, complete an application and in clued a one-page essay on a specific subject noted on the application form.

Recipients may reapply if they maintain a GPA of 3.0 while attending college.

CAREER SPECIFIC

Constance T. Rockwell Scholarship for the Theater Arts

Sponsored by The Pittsburgh CLO

Requirements: High school senior seeking a four year degree in theatre or performance arts (dance, drama, music, voice, costume design, set design, lighting or sound); high school transcripts; narrative sketch’ two recent letters of recommendation; resume; financial needs statement. Each semi-finalist will be invited to audition for the scholarship committee.

PRFSD Scholarship     

Sponsored by: Pittsburgh Regional Food Service Directors

Requirements: High school senior who will graduate in 2010, plan to attend a college, university or culinary school majoring in a food service related field; high school transcript of high school grades; must have at least a 3.0 GPA or better; typed essay of 650 words or less in a paragraph form explaining your interest in the Food Service profession and your primary educational and lifetime goals; and a letter of recommendation from a faculty member and a person of the student’s choice. Both of these should include information  covering the following:

CAD/Design/Drafting Scholarship Award Competition

Sponsored by National Association of Women in Construction

Requirements: This competition is open to both male and female students. This contest provides recognition to students for creative design, successful problem solving and craftsmanship in preparing architectural drawings and renderings.  Drawings may be submitted in the category of “Hand Drafting” or “CAD drafting”.  The design problem this year is a library.

COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY  and PROPRIETORY SCHOOL SPECIFIC

Syracuse University has 10 Full Rides for African American Men and Women
Interested in Studying Architecture. Mark Robbins, Dean of Syracuse University's School of Architecture is desperately seeking young men and
women of color interested in pursuing a five year professional degree in
Architecture. He says he's deeply committed to bringing diversity to his
field and has scholarship money set aside to fully cover education costs
for 10 students. He says that Hispanic enrollment in the school has
increased substantially, but it's been harder to attract Blacks. Syracuse
University School of Architecture has a great reputation and this seems
like a terrific opportunity, so please pass this on to everyone you know.

Duquesne University

Tamburitzan  Scholarship information is available at www.duq.edu/tamburitzans. These scholarships are offered to any Duquesne University student, regardless of ethnic background, who has experience as a performing artist.

Gannon University

A recipient of the National Science Foundation grant entitled Scholars of Excellence in Engineering and Computing Science provides need based academic merit scholarships to students who choose to study engineering or computing science at Gannon.  These scholarships are one year and renewable for up to four years.  For more information visit www.gannon.edu/seecs.
