NATIONAL VOCABULARY CHAMPIONSHIP
National Vocabulary Championship
South Fayette Students Advance to Pittsburgh Area Championship
On Friday, November 2, 2007, seventy-five students from South Fayette High School participated in the National Vocabulary Championship Qualifying Exam. Students took the one hour exam throughout the school day and some even stayed after school on Friday afternoon to take the test. The students prepared for the exam individually through studying vocabulary strategies on the website www.winwithwords.com.
Based on their performance on the exam, Stephanie Boehmer and Katie Terrell will represent South Fayette High School in the Pittsburgh Area Championship on Monday, January 14, 2008. where the winner will receive $5000 toward college tuition, the title of NVC Pittsburgh Area Champion, and a trip to Los Angeles (along with a parent or guardian) to compete in the NVC Finals in March 2008.
The Citywide Championship will be held at Keystone Oaks High School at 5:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the school parking lot and doors will open to parents, teachers and all other guests at 5:00 pm. at Keystone Oaks High School.
