Organization
and Staff
In the 2003-2004 school year, enrollment in South Fayette
School District totaled over 1,800 students. There are nine
administrators directing school operations: a Superintendent;
an Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and
Assessment; Director of Pupil Personnel; Elementary, Middle
and High School Principals; and a Director of Finance and
Business Operations.
Our highly skilled staff is often recognized by professional
and community organizations for their outstanding creativity
and dedication to students. In April 2004, Dr. Janet Waldek
received the Carnegie Science Center Award for Excellence.
Waldeck teaches Honors Biology and Chemistry to 9th and
10th grade students and uses a variety of strategies to
bring science alive for her students and encourages their
interest in the many fields of science. She received $1,000
from the Science Center to be applied to a project in her
classroom.
High School teacher Don Sekelik was also honored by the
Pennsylvania Council for the Social Studies as the 2003
Outstanding Secondary Level Social Studies Teacher for the
Year for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Sekelik is the
second South Fayette teacher to receive this honor –
Mrs. Mary Chambon was the recipient of the same award in
2001.
Throughout our District, you will find teachers, staff
and administrators who are dedicated to providing the highest
quality education for our students with a challenging academic
environment, as well as opportunities to excel in athletics
and the arts.
Our new logo, unveiled in 2004 features the words “tradition,
pride and excellence” that are the hallmark of all
that we do in South Fayette. By adding this to our logo
that appears on all official South Fayette letters and documents,
we are reminded of the high standards that are set and achieved
by faculty, staff, and students in South Fayette each and
every day.
