South Fayette School District
Report Card
2007-2008 School Year
Every year school districts are required to report student achievement data based on their performance on the PSSA (Pennsylvania System of School Assessment) in Reading and Mathematics. South Fayette students perform very well on these tests with a district average of 90% or above at a proficient or advanced level in those academic areas. Our District in overall student performance ranked 3rd in Mathematics and 5th in Reading among the 42 Allegheny County School Districts. In addition to test performance, we must meet minimum requirements with school attendance (K – 8), graduation rate and test participation.
The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) charges America’s schools to describe their success in terms of student accomplishment. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has outlined academic standards for what every child should know and learn for all grades. Each District is expected to make “adequate yearly progress” (AYP) toward meeting state standards. In order for our district to make AYP for 2009 Spring testing 63% must be proficient or advanced in Reading and 56% must be proficient or advanced in Mathematics. Results of the 2009 District’s performance will be available in late June and individual students and parent reports will be mailed in late August.
We are proud of our student’s accomplishments and believe we are preparing our students for a successful transition to meet their career goals.
Sincerely,
Dr. Linda B. Hippert
Superintendent of Schools
