Reading

The Kindergarten reading program will help all students to master readiness skills as well as beginning reading skills. The main goals of the program are listed below.

Students will be able to:

recognize all 26 upper and lower case letters of the alphabet print their first and last names distinguish consonant sounds and short vowel sounds read and comprehend basic sight words recognize rhyming words, opposites, sequence, and main idea

During the course of the year, our goal is for each child to develop a love for reading that may be further nurtured in subsequent grades - a love that will last a lifetime!
