Dear Parents, Teachers, Faculty and Administration:
As the end of the third nine weeks is upon us I thought that it was important to share with you what has been accomplished and what the future will bring. As the South Fayette Elementary PTA President, I am truly proud of the hard work and dedication that all of our Committee Heads and volunteers have done thus far. Without the continued support of countless individuals the PTA would not be so successful and for that I thank you all.
When the school year started, "homework school supply bags" were given to each student throughout k-4 on "Meet the Teacher Day". Next, the "Magazine Drive" kicked off and was a huge success. With the profits from the Magazine Drive, we were able to fund various "Holiday Parties", develop new programs such as "School Pride" and "Parent Resource" and continue funding the Accelerated Reader Program and the Title 1 Program incentives to name a few.
Fortunately for us, Market Day still continues to be a very profitable monthly fundraiser. The profits from Market Day have been allocated toward the Elementary School Library for the purchase of books. This brings me to The Book Fair. The profits from the Book Fair enabled us to purchase a book for every child in k-4 and the books will be given out on Family Reading Night in April. In the month of November, we sponsored a guest speaker for parents on "Raising a Responsible Child". During the month of December we held our annual "Holiday Mart" as a not for profit event, and funded the performance of "The Nutcracker". In January our annual "Family Movie Night" was held at no cost to families with approximately 200 people in attendance. Our first "Family Game Night" was a huge success with many children playing games and eating sundaes with family and friends.
As the school year continues, the second "Book Fair" will be held in March, "Family Reading Night" in April, "Family Fun Night" and "Track and Field Day" in May. Also, in May the PTA sponsors the "Kindergarten Luncheon" and the "Teacher Appreciation Luncheon". The proceeds from " Family Fun Night" are used to pay for the Agendas in the 2nd -4th grades and the folders for the k-1st grades.
Much is being planned for the remaining school year, and this requires many volunteers. I truly appreciate all that have given their time and efforts thus far and look forward to meeting and working with future volunteers. If any of the above mentioned events are of interest to you, please do not hesitate to contact me at (724) 693-8646 or e-mail me at ljh071887@aol.com.
Sincerely,
Lena Hannah
PTA President
