PRE SCHOOL REGISTRATION FOR 2007-2008 TO BE HELD ON JANUARY 22, 2007

Registration for preschool for the 2007-2008 school year will be held on Monday, January 22nd in the high school building in Room FA226, from 7:00A.M. – 9:00 A.M.  The classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. HOLIDAY TOY AND BOOK DRIVE SPONSORED BY SFHS STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION

Once again this Holiday Season, the High School Student Government is collecting toys and books for disadvantaged children. We will be accepting donations in the High School Library until the beginning of Winter Break. We are looking for new or "gently used" items to give to children.    

If you have any items, please consider donating them to the drive. We will donate all the toys and books to the Avis Arbor program, which is a women and children’s shelter.  This shelter is part of the Washington City Mission Homeless Shelter. Click here to read more.

NATIONAL MERIT COMMENDED STUDENTS NAMED

Congratulations to Steve Cantine, Rylan Collins, Adrienne Vollmer, and Jean Zhang, who have been named Commended Students in the 2007 National Merit Scholarship Program.  A letter of Commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation will be presented to these students on Awards Night.  About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.  Commended Students placed among the top 5% of more than 1.4 million students who took the PSAT exam in 2005.

Kaiting ChenOnes to Watch: Kaiting Chen

South Fayette senior Kaiting Chen is a self-described procrastinator and says that he’s not a hard worker. All the evidence, however, points to the contrary. Last month, Chen was named a National Merit Semi-finalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. He qualified for this honor through his performance on the 2005 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
