As superintendent, I have the privilege of working alongside incredible educators who dedicate their lives to helping children learn and grow. And as proud as I am to lead South Fayette Township School District, my greatest achievement is being a mom. Like many of you, I celebrate my child's successes, worry about the challenges, laugh at the unexpected moments, and wonder if I'm getting this parenting thing right. Through this blog, I hope to share stories from my own journey as the mom of an 11-year-old son, along with reflections from my work in education. While schools play an important role in shaping our children, parents and caregivers are their first, and most influential, teachers. Together, we teach them far more than reading, writing, and mathematics. We teach them kindness, resilience, responsibility, courage, empathy, respect, and character. My hope is that these monthly reflections remind us that none of us is parenting alone. We are partners in raising children who not only achieve great things, but who become compassionate, capable, and confident adults. From one parent to another, thank you for trusting us with your greatest gift. It is an honor to learn alongside you.
With Lion Pride,
Michelle Miller
