Girls WPIAL Wrestling Champion

Junior Ella Trahan won the 106lb weight class at the WPIAL Girls Wrestling Individual Championships on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at North Allegheny High School. Competing as a co-op for Fort Cherry, Ella went into the Championship as the #1 seed. She is now qualified for the PIAA West Regional Championships on Saturday, March 1, also at North Allegheny High School.

Per the WPIAL, "Ella Trahan became her school’s first WPIAL girls’ wrestling champion, as she took the 106 title with a fall in 5:19 against Canon-McMillan sophomore Malia Ramos. Trahan pinned each of her opponents on the day, collecting them in 0:35, 3:06, and 2:00 en route to the final. Ramos started the day with two falls in 1:18 and 1:55 before earning a 13-6 decision in the semifinals."

This is South Fayette's first year competing in Girls Wrestling and had two athletes on the Fort Cherry team. In addition to Ella, who went into the championships with a record of 21-5,  junior Azlynn Dean entered the meet with a 24-14 record and the #6 seed in her weight classes.
