Positive COVID-19 Case in Elementary School - No Closure

December 21, 2020 

Dear Parents & Guardians, 

Today, Monday, December 21, 2020, it was confirmed that there was a positive COVID-19 case in South Fayette Elementary School. The individual concerned is following isolation protocols per the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD). The District has been in communication with the Allegheny County Health Department, and close contacts have been notified. Please consult the Allegheny County Health Department’s Frequently Asked Questions: COVID-19 Exposure at School or Child Care to learn more about what constitutes close contact, quarantine, and other questions.

At this time, with the recommendation from the Allegheny County Health Department, South Fayette Township Elementary School will remain open. Any areas of exposure have been cleaned and disinfected. Due to privacy laws, the District is unable to disclose any individuals involved. The South Fayette Township School District puts safety first and will follow its Health and Safety Plan.

As a reminder, please complete the daily screening and do not send your child to school if your child experiences any of these symptoms. Please contact your medical provider as well.

-Fever or chills
-Cough
-Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
-Fatigue
-Muscle or body aches
-Headache
-New loss of taste or smell
-Sore throat
-Congestion or runny nose
-Nausea or vomiting
-Diarrhea
