Intermediate School Closure - Moves to Remote Learning
January 12, 2021

Dear Parents & Guardians,

This evening, Tuesday, January 12, 2021, the District was notified of one additional positive COVID-19 case at South Fayette Intermediate School. The District has notified the Allegheny County Health Department and is performing contact tracing. The Intermediate School now has four cases within a 14-day period, and in accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s guidance and the recommendation of the Allegheny County Health Department, South Fayette Intermediate School will move to remote learning. Wednesday, January 13, will be an asynchronous learning day as previously scheduled. Live remote instruction will commence on Thursday, January 14, and Friday, January 15. In-person learning will resume Tuesday, January 19, 2021, unless otherwise communicated. Monday, January 18, will remain closed for students for teacher professional development as previously scheduled. Teachers will be in communication with students about gaining access to the Google Meet and the lessons through Canvas.

The District takes the safety of our students and staff members seriously and is closely monitoring this situation. We will notify staff and families if any additional actions need to be taken. We appreciate your patience during this temporary transition to remote instruction.

Sincerely,

Dr. Ken Lockette
Superintendent of Schools
