Dr. Mandi Davis Skerbetz is the Director of Pupil Personnel for the South Fayette Township School District. Prior to joining South Fayette Township School District, Dr. Skerbetz was a Special Education faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh where she coordinated the Special Education Supervision Certificate program and co-coordinated the MOSAIC (7-12 dual teacher certification) program. In addition, she served as a faculty fellow and founding advisory board member for the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Urban Education. Dr. Skerbetz was the recipient of the Extra Mile Award from the Council of Graduate Students in Education for the 2014-2015 school year.
Previous to joining higher education as a Clinical Assistant Professor in 2013, she was with Propel Schools for 10 years as a Special Education Teacher, Gifted Teacher, and Director of Pupil Services. She was a founding member of Propel Schools, a consortium of ten high-performing urban, public schools, and the architect of the Pupil Services Department and its initiatives. Under her leadership Propel Schools moved to inclusion of special education services and supports, the initiation of School Wide Positive Behavior Support, and the use of data directed flexible grouping and individual planning for all students. Dr. Skerbetz led a partnership between Propel Schools and the Landmark School to address the language, reading, and writing needs of students in poverty. In addition, she coordinated a U.S. Department of Education Improvement and Dissemination grant partnership between Propel Schools and the Detroit YMCA Leadership Academies.
Dr. Skerbetz holds an Ed.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in the Education of Students with Mental and Physical Disabilities, a M.Ed. in Special Education and a B.S. in Elementary Education from Duquesne University.
