Dr. Laura Hartzell - High School Principal
Dr. Hartzell joined the South Fayette Township School District as the Assistant High School Principal in March of 2016, became the Associate High School Principal in July of 2017, and High School Principal in July of 2018. Previously, she was a Middle School Assistant Principal at Central Valley School District. Prior to serving at Central Valley School District, she was a member of the Central Administrative Team and served as the Coordinator of Special Services for the Northgate School District. Her responsibilities included serving as the Director of Special Education, Gifted Education, and English as a Second Language, as well as the District Homeless Liaison, the School Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Leader, and the Pupil Personnel Service Team Leader. Previously, she served as one of two Guidance Counselors at Northgate Middle/High School and was the Head Middle School Swimming Coach. Additionally, she served for two consecutive terms as the Secretary of the Allegheny County Counselors Associations’ Executive Board. She is a current member of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the Pennsylvania Principals Association, and the Schools to Watch State Team. Personal education includes the completion of her doctoral studies at Point Park University in April of 2018. Her dissertation is titled "Teacher-Student Relationships and School Effectiveness." Dr. Hartzell also received her Principal’s Certification, her Master of Education Degree, and her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology all at California University of Pennsylvania. Currently, she is completing her Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility at Point Park University.
