South Fayette High School Wins WPIAL Sportsmanship Award

Congratulations and thanks to Joe Farkas, Athletic Director, the entire High School Administration and Staff, Coaches, Student Athletes, District, Community, and South Fayette Fans for supporting the District’s goal to earn the 2010-2011 WPIAL Sportsmanship Award.

We are extremely proud of this honor and especially proud that everyone in South Fayette contributes to Lion Pride.

During the 2010-2011 school year, the period for this award, the District had many opportunities to show our Lion Pride K-12 while our
student athletes and fans displayed sportsmanship excellence.

This recognition expresses much more than just an award – it is about who we are a District, that we believe in “Dignity and Respect”
associated with all aspects of sportsmanship, and that “Tradition, Pride, and Excellence” extends to our athletics.

Please click here for the press release from the WPIAL for additional information and when the award will be presented.

South Fayette School District Pink Out Event

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in keeping with the goals of this national campaign, South Fayette School District is sponsoring a district wide Pink Out celebration on Thursday, October 20, 2011. We are encouraging all staff and students to wear pink that day.

As in the past, we will be honoring the South Fayette School District family members who are breast cancer survivors, currently battling this disease and also loved ones who have lost their battle during the Oct. 21st football game. The South Fayette Foundation for Excellence is sponsoring this event in memory of Dr. Mary Ravita, former SF Assistant Superintendent, who lost her 7 year battle to this dreaded disease in 2009. During the game, Dr. Ravita’s family will join Dr. Rondinelli on the field during the HALFTIME festivities in a remembrance for those members of the SF family who have passed, currently in treatment and survivors.

Additional Pink Out events scheduled for the month are the October 4th Girl’s Volleyball Game vs. Montour and the October 10th Girl’s Soccer game vs. East Allegheny.

Click here for a flyer containing information on the 2011 Score for the Cure, Pink Out T-Shirt sale which will continue through October 21, 2011. Please spread the news about this event and t-shirt sale as all proceeds will go to the Dr. Ravita Scholarship fund and Relay for Life.

Please extend an invitation to your family and friends to join the SF family in this very special event.

Thank you
