The 2024-25 Girls Varsity Basketball Team won the PIAA Class 5A Championship on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the Giant Center in Hershey, PA. They defeated Archbishop Wood 45-37. Archbishop Wood has played in the state championship game 13 times since 2010, winning nine times, including the past four consecutive years. This is the first state championship victory for girls basketball at South Fayette.

The Lady Lions finished this history-making season with a 29-2 record. The team is coached by Head Coach Bryan Bennett and assistant coaches Olet Stasko, Sarah McMurtry, and Garrett Del Re.  The roster includes: Alexa Ankrum, Emmersyn Barish, Kate Black, Alaina Clingan, Olivia Devlin, Alisa Dufort, Luci LaMendola, Haylie Lamonde, Juliette Laroux, Ryan Oldaker, Liz Porter, Cierra Rexrode, Kylie Rumberger, Caroline Satler, Ella Vierra, Kendall Welhorsky, and Lailah Wright.
