Mr. Justin Liberatore - Intermediate Principal

Mr. Justin Liberatore joined South Fayette as principal of the Intermediate School in the spring of 2026. He is a former South Fayette teacher (2006 - 2008), and could not have been happier than to return to where it all began. A South Fayette resident, he is the spouse of first grade Lion educator, Anne Liberatore, and father to two South Fayette Lions, Mr. Liberatore has always been a Lion at heart.

He is a 2021 Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation Most Valuable Principal (MVP) recipient with the experience, skill, growth-mindset, student-first-focus, and commitment to excellence that make him an asset to the South Fayette Township School District. Previously, he served the West Jefferson Hills School District as the middle school vice principal and, prior to returning to SFTSD, he was the principal of McClellan Elementary School in Pleasant Hills. 

Mr. Liberatore has a bachelor’s in elementary education from Pitt Johnstown and holds a master’s degree in Curriculum and Supervision from the University of North Carolina, as well as a Pennsylvania state K-12 principal certification.

Ms. Abigail Russell - Assistant Intermediate Principal

Mrs. Abigail Russell joined the South Fayette School District in August 2025 as a permanent substitute school counselor at the elementary level, and she transitioned to the interim Intermediate School principal role in February 2026. The School Board approved her placement as the full-time Assistant Principal in June 2026. Prior to joining South Fayette, she served as an elementary school counselor in Ohio for three years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in education from Capital University. Abigail is dedicated to supporting students and staff by fostering a positive, inclusive environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional success. She is honored to be part of the South Fayette leadership team and to support the district as assistant principal for the Intermediate School.
