Dr. Kevin S. Maurer, Ed.D. has served as the South Fayette Middle School Assistant Principal since 2016. His title was changed to Associate Principal in October, 2020. He joined the South Fayette Township School District as an instrumental and general music teacher in 2010. Throughout his time as a music educator, he served as the High School and Middle School Jazz Ensemble Director as well as the High School Assistant Marching Band Director.
An active member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators' Association (PMEA), Dr. Maurer co-hosted band festivals, presented professional development workshops, and prepared students to be accepted by application and audition under his leadership for various honors band festivals. Dr. Maurer has also conducted rehearsals and performances for the Western Area Middle School Honors Band Festivals. He now serves as an arts education advocate for the district and region.
Dr. Maurer has significant and creative expertise in digital media and technology. He has created multimedia productions for the school district and served as a Middle School Media Club Sponsor. He is currently serving as a School Safety Co-Coordinator for the school district.
In addition to his work on District curriculum and instructional technology committees, Dr. Maurer has also served as a member of the Don Eichhorn “Schools to Watch” application writing committee which resulted in the Middle School receiving the prestigious recognition in 2016 and re-designation in 2019. He has also demonstrated a passion for building positive relationships with students in his service as a student assistance program team member, crisis team member, True G.R.I.T. (Growing Responsible and Influential Teens) Program founder, "Friend of Rachel” teacher sponsor for the former Rachel’s Challenge/P.A.W.S. Program, and co-creator and student advisor of the Middle School Advisory Program.
Dr. Maurer attained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania (2009). He earned a Master of Education Degree (2014) and Principal Certification K-12 (2014) from California University of Pennsylvania. He earned his Doctorate of Educational Leadership and Administration (2021) from Point Park University and is completing his Superintendent Letter of Eligibility.
