The Parkway West Career and Technology Center (CTC) offers 16 different programs that aim to prepare students for college and future careers after graduation from high school. These programs fulfill elective credit requirements for high school students in grades 9-12. Seniors who attend the center are also eligible to take the NOCTI exam, which can lead to industry certifications and college credits based on test results.
One of the unique aspects of Parkway is its focus on providing hands-on, real-world experiences for students. For example, students in the Construction Cluster experience a rotation of Carpentry, Electrical Systems Technology, HVAC/R & Welding & Fabrication Technology. Similarly, students in the Culinary Arts program prepare food for and manage a food store and restaurant that is open to the public on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Qualified cosmetology students also have the opportunity to work in a salon that is open to the public. Please see our Public Services section to view all that are open to the public.
Moreover, seniors who attend Parkway have the chance to participate in co-op and clinical opportunities to work in local businesses and non-profits, which can provide valuable career experience and prepare them for the workforce.
