SFTSD Building Projects Overview

Welcome to our dedicated webpage for the South Fayette Township School District’s building projects. Here you will find detailed information about our ongoing and upcoming construction projects, including timelines, board actions, architectural drawings, and the purposes behind each project. We are committed to keeping our community informed and involved throughout these important developments.

The IS project includes additions and alterations to the existing building due to the need for additional classroom space to support our learners and the programs and services the District provides. The Intermediate School's original design included accommodations for these additions so that they could be made when and if the space was needed. Additions include a three-story wing of classrooms with large group instruction (LGI) spaces, a three-story classroom corner add-on, and an outdoor patio space enclosure conversion into an orchestra space. Discussions began in 2024 with drawings reviewed by the School Board in late summer. The project was bid in January 2025 and contracts were awarded in February 2025.  The contractors involved in this project include R.A. Glancy & Sons, Inc., First American Industries, Inc., and Merit Electrical, Inc. Construction will begin in April 2025 and is projected to conclude in August 2026.
After careful consideration, the District is planning to create an Elementary School that consists of all new construction. Discussions regarding the location of a new building, design for a new building, and plans for the old building all began in 2024.

As we provide outstanding learning opportunities for our youngest Lion Learners, our instructional spaces at the elementary level need to support our students and educators. The current elementary building has infrastructure systems that need to be replaced and the learning spaces require enhancement to support our students and programs. After the past decade of increased enrollment, expanded classroom spaces are a necessity. Additionally, the current Elementary School was not originally built for this age-group of students, and areas are becoming too outdated for repairs.
With the new Elementary School being built in the location of the current bus and maintenance depot, it is necessary to move its location and update the facility. Plans are underway to relocate this facility across from the Middle School, on the former Dimun property. The new bus and maintenance depot will house offices for these departments as well as the bus garages for the maintenance of our bus fleet. When not in use, all district buses will be parked at this location.
