Intermediate School (Grades 3-5)

South Fayette Intermediate School

Project Scope

The IS project includes additions and alterations to the existing building due to the need for additional classroom space to support our learners and the programs and services the District provides. The Intermediate School's original design included accommodations for these additions so that they could be made when and if the space was needed. Additions include a three-story wing of classrooms with large group instruction (LGI) spaces, a three-story classroom corner add-on, and an outdoor patio space enclosure conversion into an orchestra space. Discussions began in 2024 with drawings reviewed by the School Board in late summer. The project was bid in January 2025 and contracts were awarded in February 2025.  The contractors involved in this project include R.A. Glancy & Sons, Inc., First American Industries, Inc., and Merit Electrical, Inc. Construction will begin in April 2025 and is projected to conclude in August 2026.

Project Purpose

The purpose of expanding the Intermediate School is to accommodate the District's growing enrollment. By undertaking significant alterations and additions to our Intermediate School, we will enhance the facilities utilized by our Lion Learners, provide additional classrooms, and improve the overall student experience.

An Act 34 hearing was held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. During this public meeting, the entire scope of the project was reviewed. To view the documents provided at this public meeting, please click here.
