The Little Lions Early Learning Academy at South Fayette High School offers a 4-day class in the morning and afternoon to enhance early childhood learning opportunities for the community!

Thank you for your interest in the South Fayette Little Lions Early Learning Academy, a high school Early Childhood laboratory program.  This program prepares high school students for roles in the workforce involving young children by giving them an opportunity to be directly involved in the daily operations of the program.  Although a certified teacher is always in the classroom, the high school students are the primary instructors, teaching lessons and practicing the theories of early childhood education within the classroom environment.  All high school students must take a Child Psychology class before participating in the program and are under the supervision and guidance of the teacher.  The advantages of such a program are abundant for all.  The Little Lions are provided with the positive benefits such as social interactions with peers, modeling from the high school students of language skills and social behaviors, and involvement in a caring and productive classroom environment.

While at Little Lions, students will learn 2D and 3D shapes, math concepts, letter recognition, phonemic awareness, rhyming, and writing skills. Student learning will be fun and creative as they will participate in a variety of activities such as story time, calendar and weather, art, science, math, social studies, cooking, music, and movement. Throughout the year there are many special experiences for the children such as guest speakers, special activities, and parties. However, positive self-esteem is the main goal, so that your child may be successful in future years.  The program at South Fayette emphasizes the importance of this development within every child.  It is the goal of the program to provide a learning atmosphere that will help your child feel secure with him or herself, allow your child to develop social skills and prepare your child for their kindergarten experience. Your student’s year at Little Lions culminates in a field trip experience and recognition ceremony.
